Gentle Kripalu Yoga

Shift from busy to calm, from tight to released

Mondays 9:15-10:30am, Thursdays 10:30-11:45am, Fridays  3:15-4:15pm

Gentle Kripalu Yoga is suitable for beginners and any one who wants to move every joint in the body, stretch gently and strengthen with calm breath and awareness.  You will feel a shift during class from busy to calm and from tight to released.  The class starts with centering and pranayama (breath work) and moves through poses designed to work the six motions of the spine (forward and back, side to side, and twisting left and right).  The long muscles of the spine are gently strengthened with a variety of simple but powerful sequences to tone and balance the system.  The class finishes with mild inversion and savasana.  You will leave this class feeling refreshed and more easy in your body/mind.

All Levels Embodied Yoga is a class in which you can deepen your yoga practice by establishing a better connection from the mind to muscles. Discover and heal your body's blind spots with Yoga Tune Up® therapy balls to massage and lengthen overused, misused, and abused muscles. Develop a stronger foundation and alignment in poses though movement for better body awareness and control. You'll reduce pain, improve posture, and enhance performance.

Yoga 101

Starting at the Beginning

Whether this is the first time you’ve stepped onto a Yoga mat, or you’d like the opportunity to work with experienced Yoga instructors, this class is perfect for you.  We’ll be delving into various Yoga poses combined with Yogic breathing. This is a breath-centered yoga class that focuses on gentle transition into poses.  The class includes introduction to yogic breathing (pranyama) so you can be more aware of your breathing habits, improve the breathing to help with stress reduction and deepen your breath and your awareness. 

Benefits of this class include:

  • In-depth instruction on alignment
  • Introduction to various types of Yoga postures and yogic breathing
  • A slower pace, with an opportunity for questions to be asked as needed

Kripalu Yoga in American Sign Language (ASL)

Join Sara for a weekly class aiming to balance the qualities of effort and ease while holding compassionate self-awareness.

This class includes warm-ups, postures to strengthen and stretch the body, breathing practices to awaken and relax the nervous system, and time for integration. The encouragement throughout practice is to find your own balance of strength, stretch, and ease.

Although voice-interpretation is not provided, every one is welcome! Drop-ins are welcome!

About Sara Dugas:

In 2013, as a trained social worker, Sara began to develop goals for self-care that led her to Kripalu for a weeklong yoga retreat. It was the first time she experienced yoga instruction with an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. It was a transformational experience. Inspired by the benefits of yoga, Sara completed her certification in Kripalu Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) during the summer of 2014.

Empowered to make yoga accessible to everyone, Sara offers yoga classes in American Sign Language (ASL) and tailors and makes her class accessible to the visual community. Sara is known for her authentic, non-judgmental teaching style, and compassion-centered philosophy. It is her wish that you find your inner peace, both on and off the mat. When not teaching yoga, Sara spends time with her blended-family including a mixture of Deaf and hearing furkids.

AromaFlow Yoga

Invite a balanced practice of asana and pranayama

This weekly hatha yoga series has been created to invite a balanced practice of asana and pranayama, followed by an extended shavasana.

Every class will be paired with Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® doTERRA essential oils to guide your practice with natural healing benefits sourced from medicinal plants and trees from around the world. We use doTERRA essential oils because they are the safest and purest essential oils available; however, students with high sensitivity to scents should attend class with care.

Restorative Yoga

Gentle stretching to allow the body and mind to truly relax

This class will be ideal for any practitioner, as it will involve some gentle stretching followed by a series of poses supported with various props in order to allow both the body and mind to truly relax.

Svaroopa® Yoga with Carol

Release of deep spinal muscles from the tailbone to the rib cage, leaving you feeling incredibly refreshed and relaxed

CarolWaite.jpgSvaroopa® Yoga is a deep and meditative style of yoga that uses props and precise alignments to reach deep into the core muscles around the spine to relieve tensions in the body. Svaroopa® Yoga promotes healing and transformation and is a consciousness-oriented style of yoga. Group classes and individual yoga therapy sessions are excellent for relieving back, neck, knee and shoulder pain. The guided awareness done at the beginning and end of every class provides a deep relaxation and reduces the stress that many of us experience in our daily lives. Svaroopa® says that it all begins at the tailbone, therefore in every class you will experience release of deep spinal muscles from the tailbone to the rib cage, leaving you feeling incredibly refreshed and relaxed after every class.

Carol began teacher training with Swami Nirmalanada (formerly Rama Birch) at Master Yoga Foundation. She became a Certified Svaroopa ® Yoga teacher at the 500 hour level in 2004 and has been teaching at studios in the metro west area for over 10 years. Carol continued into Advanced Teacher Training and is a Certified Svaroopa ® Gentle Teacher, Deeper Teacher and Certified Svaroopa ® Yoga Therapist.

Therapeutic Yoga with Ritu

Relieve Pain and Increase Mobility

This is a gentle and therapeutic yoga class that focuses on neck, shoulders, hips and spine. We will flow mindfully and progress gradually through a systematic yoga sequence that can help you align your spine, decompress it and strengthen it safely and effectively. We will work with our breath, learn to flow with it and  practice breathing techniques to relax the nervous system. This class will help you release muscle tension and relieve back, neck, shoulder and generalized aches and pains with emphasis on stretching and flexibility in harmony with your breath. We will do Yoga asanas on the mat with use of bolsters and cushions. Class ends with a short meditation that leaves you feeling calm, centered and in the present moment. This class is appropriate for beginners and for anyone who wants to move slowly and mindfully. 

Ritu is an Occupational Therapist and a Registered Yoga teacher.  She uses her years of knowledge and experience as an OT to offer gentle, therapeutic style of yoga.  Modifications and props are provided for poses as needed.

Note: This is a 7-week session and make ups will be offered only if a class is cancelled by the studio.

Gentle Morning Yoga Flow

Gentle Morning Vinyasa to get you going and flowing into the rest of your day

Enjoy gentle vinyasa flow practice designed to help you find strength, freedom of movement and a connection to your breath. This class is an all level class that would help you feel grounded, energized and inspired for the day ahead of you. The Gentle Morning Vinyasa flow will wake you up and get you going and flowing into the rest of your day.

Journey though a series of moves to stretch and strengthen the body and focus the mind, followed by restorative poses, to relax and release. Props will be used to enable the body to feel completely supported, so that you can reach a deeper state of healing and relaxation. Modifications can be made for students of all-levels.
